Online Library
A digital library is a collection of organized electronic documents that are accessible on the internet or through compact-disk read-only memory (CD-ROM) disks. Users of digital libraries can access a wide range of resources, such as magazine articles, books, research papers, images, sound files, and videos.
In recent years, university libraries have faced two primary challenges: the difficulty of purchasing enough new educational materials and the struggle to maintain a sufficient archive of older materials. Digital solutions can, in principle, address both of these issues.
There are several reasons why universities are increasingly adopting online libraries. They streamline research for scholars, ease budget pressures, solve growing preservation challenges, and allow libraries to expand their collections into newer media formats. Perhaps most importantly, online libraries contribute to society by making information more accessible, improving its quality, and increasing its diversity.
